Beechmont Improvements Continue

Construction is anticipated to being in June on two long-awaited projects along Beechmont Avenue, which will be coordinated by the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT):

Safety Enhancements (Five Mile Road to Hopper Hill Road)

This safety project entails the modification or elimination of over 25 driveways (owners have been working with ODOT), replacement of several sections of badly deteriorated curb, new sidewalk on the northeast corner of the Eight Mile intersection, pavement restriping to create a westbound right turn lane from Beechmont to Eight Mile, construction of a median island just east of Nagel Road, and installation of new traffic signals with “back plates” along with street signage at signalized intersections.

Downtown Anderson (West of Wolfangel Road to East of Asbury Road)

This enhancement is highlighted by the narrowing of travel lanes (12’ to 11’), along with the installation of a small eastbound right turn lane into the driveway across from Wolfangel Road. Sidewalks will be installed where the roadway shoulder currently exists.  Pedestrian lighting will be added in this area, along with new traffic signals and mast arms at the Wolfangel and Asbury intersections, and storm sewer improvements.  In addition, Anderson Township is working with Duke Energy Ohio to replace the cobra head street lights between Five Mile Road and Asbury Road with new LED roadway lighting.

ODOT has awarded the construction contract for these projects to Prus Construction.  Work is anticipated to begin in mid-June and continue through 2017, and possibly into early 2018.  Construction will entail some daytime lane closures of Beechmont Avenue, in select locations, between 9am and 3pm.  Please monitor our website (www.AndersonTownship.org) and Facebook page (Anderson Township, Ohio), which will be used to communicate construction information.  ODOT and/or Prus will be in contact with affected property owners when working in temporary construction easements on private property.

For more details, please see the attached construction plans or contact Steve Sievers at (513) 688-8400 or ssievers@andersontownship.org.  We thank you in advance for your patience and understanding as we work to make these important safety improvements along Anderson’s “Main Street.”
