Nine outdoor warning sirens in Anderson Township will be upgraded in the coming months through grant funding from the Hamilton County Emergency Management Agency. To provide Anderson with better emergency coverage, three new sirens also have been installed.
“The new sirens are not only more efficient in operation, but also more aesthetic in appearance,” notes Assistant Chief Tom Riemar of the Anderson Township Fire and Rescue Department. “The project will be complete by spring when severe weather is more prevalent,” he said.
Riemar stressed that sirens are designed to provide warning for people who are outside and may not know severe weather, or an emergency, is coming. The new sirens will provide better coverage for the Bass Island area, Laverty Park, Vineyard Golf Course and Woodland Mound. Additional information can be found at the county website
