Anderson Township recently put into service a new fire engine that is stationed at the township‘s busiest firehouse, Station 6 located at 7954 Beechmont Ave.
The vehicle replaces a 1997 quint ladder truck which was sold a year ago.
Battalion Chief Paul Cunningham said the new fire engine has several advantages over the quint including cleaner exhaust emissions, increased fuel economy and improved emergency scene lighting. It is the first fire truck to have rollover stability and the interior provides a quieter cab environment.
Other upgrades include a driver backup camera view and also a left and right turn signal camera view for the driver. The engine meets the latest National Fire Protection Association standards for operation and safety.
